TERMS AND CONDITIONS

By enrolling your child at TLFCB, you acknowledge understanding and agreement with these terms and conditions.

1. PAYMENT AND FEES

1.1 Fee Structure

  • All fees are for 6-month terms: February-July and August-January
  • Fees must be paid in full before the commencement of each term
  • Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable
  • Fees are term-based and cover instruction, internal events, internal assessments, and competitions only

1.2 Additional Costs

  • TLFCB produces major performances every alternate year
  • Performance costume fees and show tickets are additional costs not included in regular tuition
  • Regulation standard class uniforms are additional costs
  • Parents will be informed of additional costs with reasonable advance notice

1.3 Payment Terms

  • Payment is due before the commencement of each term
  • Late payment may result in suspension of classes until fees are cleared
  • No partial refunds will be provided for early withdrawal from programs

2. ACADEMIC POLICIES AND SCHEDULES

2.1 Class Organization

  • Class schedules, levels, timings, and instructor assignments are determined by TLFCB and may change based on operational needs
  • Students are expected to attend classes regularly and arrive on time
  • Consistent tardiness may affect student progress and participation in events

2.2 Student Advancement

  • Students progress through ballet grades based on instructor assessment of technique, attendance, and proficiency in reaching ISTD grade-specific requirements
  • Grade promotions are made at the discretion of TLFCB faculty and are not automatic or time-based
  • Students may be required to stay in a grade level to ensure proper foundation before advancement
  • Level placement decisions are not subject to parent requests or timeline expectations
  • Parents will be informed of grade placement decisions but such decisions are final

2.3 Holiday Schedule and Make-up Classes

  • All classes follow the TLFCB holiday calendar, which is provided in advance at https://thelewisfoundation.org/the-school/holidays-in-2025/
  • Fees are term-based and account for the academy’s planned schedule including holidays
  • Non-performance years: Summer vacation classes may be made up by attending equivalent classes at other TLFCB centers before the calendar year ends.
  • Performance years: Summer break follows Indian school calendar for students following specified Indian curriculum, with limited make-up options during this period.

2.4 Internal Assessments

  • Internal assessments are conducted regularly to monitor student progress and determine readiness for examinations or grade advancement
  • Assessment results will be communicated to parents and form the basis for grade advancement decisions

3. ISTD EXAMINATIONS

3.1 Examination Structure

  • TLFCB follows the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) curriculum and examination system
  • Students may be entered for ISTD international examinations conducted by external certified examiners from the UK
  • Examination entry is based on instructor assessment of student readiness and is not guaranteed

3.2 Examination Fees

  • Examination fees are additional costs not included in regular tuition and must be paid separately
  • Parents will be notified of examination opportunities, fees, and deadlines with reasonable advance notice

4. PERFORMANCE AND EVENTS

4.1 Performance Participation

  • Performance participation is based on attendance, skill level, instructor discretion, and adherence to academy guidelines
  • Students missing rehearsals may be excluded from performances
  • Performance-related decisions are final and not subject to appeal

4.2 Event Policies

  • Students must meet attendance and skill requirements for participation in competitions and showcases
  • TLFCB reserves the right to determine student eligibility for all events and performances

5. COMMUNICATION AND CONDUCT

5.1 Communication Protocol

  • We value open communication with our families
  • Any concerns about classes, policies, or your child’s experience should be directed to support@tlfcb.org or the center coordinator for resolution
  • TLFCB will respond to communications within 48 hours during business days

5.2 Parent and Student Conduct

  • Students must wear appropriate dance attire and follow studio etiquette as instructed
  • TLFCB reserves the right to discontinue enrollment for students whose behavior or family conduct is disruptive to the learning environment
  • Parents are expected to respect staff, other families, and academy policies

6. HEALTH AND SAFETY

6.1 Medical Disclosure

  • Parents must inform TLFCB of any medical conditions, injuries, allergies, or physical limitations that may affect their child’s participation
  • TLFCB reserves the right to exclude students from classes for health or safety reasons
  • Parents must ensure their child is physically fit to participate in dance activities

6.2 Liability

  • The academy is not responsible for injuries that may occur during classes, events, or on academy premises
  • Parents assume responsibility for their child’s participation in all activities
  • TLFCB is not responsible for any personal belongings brought to the premises
  • Parents are responsible for any property damage caused by their child

6.3 Emergency Procedures

  • TLFCB reserves the right to seek emergency medical attention for students if parents cannot be reached
  • Parents authorize TLFCB staff to act in their child’s best interest during emergencies

7. PHOTOGRAPHY AND MEDIA CONSENT

7.1 Media Usage Rights

  • Students may be photographed or recorded during classes, events, and performances
  • TLFCB reserves the right to use these images and videos for marketing, social media, promotional materials, and educational purposes
  • Media may be used across all TLFCB platforms including website, social media, brochures, and advertising

7.2 Opt-out Provisions

  • Parents who prefer their child not be included in photography/video should inform us by emailing support@tlfcb.org
  • Opt-out requests will be honored but may limit participation in certain events or promotional activities

8. OPERATIONAL POLICIES

8.1 Academy Authority

  • Academy policies regarding curriculum, teaching methods, performance participation, and operational decisions are determined by TLFCB and are final
  • TLFCB reserves the right to modify programs, schedules, and policies with appropriate notice
  • Class transfers between centers are subject to availability and instructor approval

8.2 Dress Code and Uniform Requirements

  • Students must adhere to TLFCB’s uniform guidelines at all times during classes
  • Specific uniform requirements are detailed in the academy’s dress code policy available at enrollment and is also available here
  • Proper ballet attire is mandatory for participation in classes – students not in appropriate uniform may be excluded from class
  • Hair must be secured according to academy guidelines for safety and presentation standards
  • Ballet shoes and accessories must meet academy specifications
  • Performance and examination attire requirements will be communicated separately and are mandatory for participation

8.3 Enrollment and Withdrawal

  • One month’s written notice is required for withdrawal from programs
  • No refunds will be provided for partial months or early withdrawal
  • TLFCB reserves the right to terminate enrollment with appropriate notice

8.4 Weather and Emergency Closures

  • Classes cancelled due to weather, natural disasters, bandhs, or government-mandated closures will not be refunded.
  • Make-up classes for such cancellations are at TLFCB’s discretion and subject to schedule & studio availability.
  • Online classes on Zoom may be offered on such occasions.

9. PRIVACY AND DATA PROTECTION

9.1 Information Usage

  • Student and family information collected through registration will be used for academy operations only
  • Information will be kept confidential and not shared with third parties without consent
  • Parents may request access to their child’s records maintained by TLFCB

10. GENERAL PROVISIONS

10.1 Modifications

  • TLFCB reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions with reasonable notice
  • Continued enrollment constitutes acceptance of any modifications

10.2 Governing Law

  • These terms and conditions are governed by Indian law
  • Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of Bangalore courts

10.3 Severability

  • If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remainder shall remain in full effect

We reserve the right to update or change these Terms and Conditions at any time. Your continued enrollment will constitute your acknowledgment of the modifications and your consent to abide and be bound by the modified Terms and Conditions.
